Northwestern University Distance Learning Website
www.dl.sps.northwestern.edu
In my role at Northwestern University, I managed the development of a website from conception to launch using WordPress. I began the process by assessing and auditing the legacy website. I detailed the site’s strengths and weaknesses and asked a team member to conduct a user survey. After completing the assessment period, I explored the needs of shareholders and end users. Then, I developed a production schedule and ensured scalability and future iterations by working with the back-end developer. The website launched with a modern look that fit within established brand guidelines and delivered content in a meaningful way. I set the content direction with our team’s content specialist and created the department's first editorial calendar and social media campaign.
eBook Publishing & Companion Marketing Website
I edited, proofread, and published a 40,000-word novel, Shaping the Story, for Amazon Kindle. Using Sigil, I used HTML and CSS to deliver a high-quality and user friendly ebook. After publication, I designed and created a companion website for promotion using Squarespace. I created and curated the website’s content using material from the book, editorial reviews, and existing YouTube videos to create multiple landing pages and areas of interest. I also coordinated the creation and execution of a social media campaign to promote and sell the book. The website acts as a conduit between Twitter users and point-of-purchase clicks on Amazon.
